Are bouncy castles safe during pregnancy?
I couldn't find much on bouncy castles except that doctors couldn't imagine why you would want to go on one.
Um, how about because you have a toddler that wants to go on one and won't go in by themselves. Or maybe because your kid has been pinned in the corner by some fat kid and you have to retrieve them. Or maybe, just maybe, bouncy castles are awesome so that they should shut their pie holes because it doesn't matter why, it just matters if it's safe.
Like I said, I didn't find a lot about bouncy castles but I did find a bit on trampolines as they seem to fall in similar camps. The big worry seems to be about you falling off and breaking a limb although I fail to see how that is a danger that is unique to pregnancy – we all try to avoid snapping a wrist, don't we?
Balance was another issue although, I think that would be more of a danger to the little kids jumping in the castle more than it would be for you. Can you imagine the trauma of being three-years old and having a woman that's 39-weeks pregnant fall on you? The horror (said with a raspy whisper).
As for knocking something important loose (like the baby) that was reserved more for amusement park rides because bouncy castles aren't really jolting as much as they are, well, bouncy so that didn't seem to be much of an issue.
Personally, I think the bigger danger is you wetting your pants with all that bouncing. Hey, you can just blame it on the toddler you knocked over with your bad-ass tsunami moves – if they don't want the hassle, they should get out of the castle!

This post reminded me of my very pregnant bouncy castle experience shared with friends and my 2-year-old at the time. FUN!

That looked like an awesome time! Thanks for sharing that pic!
recently i read on ohdeedoh about the dangers of a bouncy house. most of which contain lead paint!
alemunshi you are the WOMAN!!! i quickly removed myself from a trampoline after being preggers. no baby in my belly at all and my guts quickly let me know they were not going to stay put if i kept jumping like that. awww no more kid fun for me!
If by bouncy castle, you mean my ass, then I sit on one every day. Heavy as lead, maybe. Fumes? Sometimes.
I like how Bouncy Houses get their own page.
I had a bouncy castle for my daughters 3rd birthday; all went well.
I had one again a few months later for the little kids when I graduated college and we had a family party; again all went well.
A few months after that, I was at the local Baptist Church registering for MOPS. They had one.
Im not sure how but what I believe happened is that there were some older kids in there and my daughter's arm was jumped on...and BROKEN.
She wore a cast for 6 weeks that had to be changed every 2 weeks to ensure it was healing ok.
Needless to say they make me a bit paranoid now.. :/
what about bouncy water slides? I rented one for my son's birthday when I was about 9 weeks along.. It was a BLAST! With SPD right now I know I couldnt do it at this point, but my drs advised aganist it back then and i said "hmm huge water slide in my backyard? I'm on!"
I just stumbled upon this post and had to tell you that I was a nanny for a 3 yr old little girl who went on a moon bounce with her two brothers (same age-triplets) and only one other child who was about the same age. Four went in, 3 came out fine but our little princess came out with a broken femur. She was in a full leg cast for months. The thing was that no one fell on her. No one was rough. The Dr told us that until they're 8, children's bones aren't strong enough and shouldn't be allowed on those types of things. They jump, they land, they break.
This makes me laugh so hard, just last week at almost 32 weeks pregnant I was trudging up a bouncy slide with my terrified toddler so he could have fun at a birthday party. I think the adults had more fun watching me try to lug 30 pounds of kid up an inflated slope to get down a slide. Ridiculous. I'm surprised you don't have a post on water slides. When I was 8 weeks along we went on a cruise and I went down the water slide on the cruise ship about a billion times before my husband pointed out that if you're pregnant you're not supposed to. Oh well! (Seriously, I went down more than all the kids on the ship combined. I am not even kidding.)
"if they don't want the hassle, they should get out of the castle!" You are HYSTERICAL. I am at work (and about 10 weeks pregnant with my second) and when I read that line I laughed so hard I just about peed my pants. You kill me.
You are hilarious. Really. I cannot get over your site. And seriously. Bounce Houses? Do enough prego women want to jump on these to justify an entire section on them? Love it!
I seriously appreciate that you have a page dedicated to bounce houses. I went on one when I was 17 weeks pregnant (I'm now 28 weeks) at my niece's first communion and didn't even think twice about it. My whole family was kind of flabbergasted that I would do such a thing, and then I freaked out that maybe I was a bad mom already because I thought nothing of it. I googled "bouncy castle" and "pregnancy" to try to figure out if I had damaged my little one already and it led me to your blog. I LOVE IT (and subsequently feel much better about my bouncy castle escapades)
I couldn’t locate much data on Online pharmacy reviews about pregnant females in bouncy castles other than that medical professionals couldn’t picture why you would want to go on a single. Um, how about since you have a toddler that desires to go on 1 and won’t go in by themselves. Or possibly since your kid has been pinned in the corner by some extra fat kid and you have to retrieve them.
I went on a bouncy house for my daughter's birthday while six months pregnant and had a blast feeling somewhat light! Then I realized that maybe I should rethink all the jostling.
