Are heated seats safe during pregnancy?
I remember the first time I was in a car with heated seats I thought I'd wet my pants but, after the initial shock, I thought they were the greatest inventions since the DQ Blizzard.
Heated car seats aren't dangerous when you're pregnant because they give off about as much heat as a heating pad. It's not until you get into sauna, hot tub or tanning bed heat that some people even start to worry.
So crank that seat, lady and keep checking to make sure you didn't pee.

I never had fancy cars with heated seats (until recently, but we had to trade that car in because it was to expensive). The first time I sat in someones car with heated seats that were on I thought I was crazy. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why my bum was so warm. Then I saw the button and was relieved.
I love my heated car seats. It's great for achy backs after hauling around a gigantic watermelon belly all day. And I'm post-partum.
Heated car seats are the best.thing.ever! Something I would gladly pay extra for!
My first experience with heated seats...I was drunk and couldn't for the life of me figure out how I had pissed myself and wasn't wet. I kept feeling my crotch and my friend kept looking over at me wondering why I was feeling myself up in her car! LOL
Just don't use the heated seats if you have a Preparation H suppository in (due to the newly acquired hemroids that growing fetus caused). It creates enough extra heat to cause them to liquify and create a serious mess!
Holy mackerel, Night Owl. That's good advice.
I am 10.5 weeks pregnant, and not that I have "severe" back pain yet, but its been a little achy lately and I actually look for excuses to drink my car so I can turn on the seat heaters. I need to buck up and just buy a heating pad for the couch.
Even one step above the awesome invention of heated seats... COOLED SEATS!! I like to call them anti-swamp-ass seats. I have them in my expedition... LOVE them in the summer time, and especially now that I'm 32 weeks preggers and it's been in the high 90's lately. Whoop!!
Hmmm. When I was pregnant with my son in 2009, I had horrible rib pain since he decided to lovingly jam his head underneath the bottom of my right rib putting it in a constant state of strain. I was desperate for some relief & called my OB. Could I use a heating pad?....some Icy Hot?...ANYTHINGGGGG?!?!??! The answer was a resounding 'no'. I was told no heating pads unless it got really, really, REALLY bad and then on a very low temp for a VERY short period of time with the reason being that it was bad for the mother's body temperature to be raised. There was no other explanation. That said, I still used my heated seat (a/k/a butt warmer) which helped relieve my back pain despite my doctor's comments, but I'm not sure they would've been thrilled about it. Oh, in the end, the little munchkin turned out just fine & my rib was thrilled to not be antagonized any further.
