Best Baby Registry Ev-ah!

A few months ago, a gal named Natalie contacted me about a site she had just launched called Baby List.

It's a baby registry that allows you to register for exactly what you want from anywhere online. All you have to do is install the browser button and as you come across something you like the look of, just click and it's added to your list.

Is this not brilliant like David Beckham's bum? I know, right!

You can register for the usual like car seats and Jolly Jumpers but then you can also register for other awesome stuff like, I don't know, house cleaning, a food delivery service or that handmade soap that you order from hippies in Peru. The possibilities are endless.

So Natalie asked me if I would be willing to put my own baby registry together and I said, "Hell to the ya!" and I've been adding to it over the past few months like a brain damaged squirrel preparing for winter and I'm finally ready to reveal it.

I tried to pick things that most people in both Canada and the U.S.A would have access to because we all know that you lucky ducks in the U.S. can order anything and it is shipped to your door for free and with a cookie. (Buggers.) I didn't get into anything in the rest of the world because you guys are all too cool for me and I still get thrown by the term "nappy" so you just know that would have been a disaster. As Colonel Sanders said, "Do what you know and do it well." (For the record, I have no idea if he said that but it sounds like something he would say so I'm running with it.)

Everything in my registry (for my fake baby, Flick of course) are things I thought I would need if I was starting from scratch again but with the knowledge I have now. Clearly the knowledge I have now dictates buying monkey hats and screwing the change table – priorities, people.

I didn't register for a stroller because depending on where you live and how you want to use it really changes the kind you buy (if you even need one at all) so I left it off.

So check it out:

Pregnant Chicken's Kick Ass Registry

Feel free to comment below on things I should add or things that you've loved. I'll keep adding to it when I find cool things so check in every so often.

Do you think I'm a little too excited about a baby that I'm not having? No. I think it's all good too. (squirrel, nut, nut, squirrel.)

This is a great idea! And you had a great registry! But, you should definitely add a Pump-a-Pair, www.pumpapair.com! It is a new, fast, easy and affordable ($12.95) hands-free pumping accessory! It is a great price point to give as a gift and works with all top-hook nursing bras so any mom that is pumping could use it!

I just have to say, you are so sarcastic and witty. I'm literally laughing so hard at some of your comments. Thank god 5 of the seven kids are still awake or else I'd be waking them all up anyhow laughing like an ass. LOL :)

If you're spending someone else's money, I'd go for the electric breast pump.

And gotta say, the stuff from The Spotted Monkey is fabulous! ;o)

Kawaii diapers http://www.theluvyourbaby.com/
A moby style wrap - even better than the ergo for a newborn this saved my little baby's life as her older brother is only 17 month older and I was constantly chasing him and I would have forgotten her somewhere
milkies http://www.mymilkies.com/ take advantage of those leaky boobs
books about baby led weaning/solid http://www.baby-led.com/ because nothing is better than never having to look at pureed mush.
At least a months subscription to blockbuster/netflicks - because you are going to sit at home and nurse for that first month (hopefully not in tears like me though)

Excellent list and excellent software/app thingie

Love the concept! Although you wouldn't get the 10% off from a retailer to complete your registry this way. I had a few things I would add to your list....

I would add Sophie Giraffe: http://www.sophiegiraffeusa.com/ because she is the best teether ever....especially for those back teeth.

The Nose Frida: http://www.nosefrida.com/ because those stupid bulb sucker things don't do a darn thing.

An absolute must get is the "Happiest Baby on the Block" book or dvd (http://www.happiestbaby.com/). Actually I read the book and then got the dvd at the local library and made my husband watch it. Saved.our.lives. those first few weeks.

I would also buy stock in good nursing tank tops. They are awesome!! (No link because I used the ones from Target and I don't think they are necessarily the best option).

Also, I tend to be a Chicco fan- so I choose the Key Fit 30 over the Gracco car seat.

Finally, if we can register for anything...how about a stand alone freezer for your garage? I had a shelf dedicated to pumped milk and then when it came to do solids, I had another shelf dedicated to homemade baby food. :)

www.hugabub.com This baby sling is a little complicated to tie on in the beginning but SO worth it. It's just like a hands free baby hugger, mmmmm, heaven!

Any and every registry should have a copy of 'Newborn Necessities'....this book gives a new parent an easy to use charting system for keeping track of baby's feedings and diaper changes.
When your home for 2 days with this little bundle of joy...and haven't slept since she/he entered the world, and your baby nurse or doctor wants to know how many wet diapers every day, what color the poo is and how much/how often are they eating, you'll be so glad you have this book. You may not have brushed your teeth yet that day, but you will be able to answer these pressing questions with some amount of certainty.

amazon.com listing has a 'look inside' feature, so you can check it out for yourself...

LOVE, love love your website, and love your registry! Added a few items from your registry to mine (for our first baby) on Amazon...though WHY I BOTHER, I'm not sure, because it seems that NO ONE is actually paying any attention to our registry and are just buying us stuff that THEY want to buy, regardless of whether or not WE want it... (sense the frustration?). This happened with the wedding registry too, I'm not sure why I thought the baby registry would be any different...

We love our Snuza Go! Being a paranoid momma who is unrealistically scared of SIDS, this helps me sleep at night.

Just had my second child a week ago (wow, the things I had blacked out from memory), and I had forgotten how much I LOVE these: http://www.bobbleroos.com/Baby-Blankets-c3/. Best receiving/swaddling blankets ever. My sister-in-law got me some with my daughter, and they're huge, soft, wash well, are a good weight for summer, and come in great patterns. They've held up well enough to be used with two kids, so the fact that they're more expensive than regular swaddling blankets ends up being totally worth it. SO much better for swaddling this first month than any other blanket we own.

Love the blog! Thanks for keeping us preggos entertained...
